Energypreneurs

Jun 14, 2020

Any of today’s challenges multiply in the Pacific countries because of the vast distances between countries. As these countries are highly dispersed, the cost of fossil fuel multiplies because of the cost of transportation and storage.

In today’s episode, Olly Norojono, Director, Energy Division, Pacific Department of the Asian Development Bank explains this region and ADB’s work in the region.

Olly highlights ADB’s focus on the future of renewable energy, off-grid solar, and energy efficiency. He explains the countries and the huge opportunities it brings for all. He explains how today’s electrification of transport is bringing the transport and energy sectors closer as the transport sector diversified from just building roads to a more comprehensive approach to infrastructure.

We discuss climate change and the use of renewable energy technology for mobility. We also talk about the need for private investors in the Pacific and ADB's guarantee fund to reduce the cost of borrowing.
